MountainAsh is located on a 6 acre farm on beautiful Salt Spring Island in British Columbia, Canada. My love for Australian Shepherds and the breeds amazing versatility started as a child but only came to fruition in 2006 with the addition of Jazz to our family. We have been blessed with some fantastic Australian Shepherds, and produced multiple conformation Champions that have excelled in many areas of competition. We take great pride in showcasing our Australian Shepherds in multiple venues. First and foremost our dogs live with us in the home as loyal companions. |
Growing up on Salt Spring Island, our family was active in the local 4-H Club with projects in Sheep, Poultry, Horse, and Horticulture. We proudly raised purebred CLRC registered Suffolk Sheep under the farm name of Cerdinen Livestock. Our 4-H experiences included travelling throughout BC to Fall Fairs, Exhibitions and 4-H sponsored events. Many of our achievements were recognized with ribbons and trophies. These experiences encouraged the development of public speaking abilities, various husbandry techniques, flock management, breeding practices, as well as judging, showmanship and leadership skills. All of these valuable skills have been an asset to my involvement in the dog world.
A proud member of the following clubs and organizations: Canadian Kennel Club (CKC), Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA), and affiliate clubs: Canadian National Australian Shepherd Association (CNASA), Australian Shepherd Club of British Columbia (ASCBC). MountainAsh is a registered kennel with the CKC and ASCA. Reputable breeders respect and maintain the breed standard of excellence.
Mountain Ash, commonly called Sorbus aucuparia or Rowan, is a species of deciduous tree or shrub in the rose family that produces white flowers and red berries.
I have been fortunate to attend many workshops, clinics, seminars and classes with some of the best in their field. It has been a pleasure to attend obedience seminars with Sylvia Bishop and Monique Anstee, conformation handling and conditioning workshops with Joy Henderson, nutrition and reproduction seminars, Structure in Action (puppy puzzle, structure and gait) seminar with Pat Hastings, seminar with dog behaviour specialist Jean Donaldson, herding clinics and/or lessons with Lynn Leach, Marti Parrish, Kristin Thomson and Julie Carter. Many thanks Ann and Bruce McPhee of Trekhond Kennels for their friendship, incredible support and ongoing training classes. I'm beyond grateful to my mentors, trainers, friends and family.
At an early age I developed a passion for photography and MountainAsh Aussies are regular subjects through my lens.
